Completed documents and evidence
Understand the finished PDF, its certificate of completion, and the legal weight of the result.
The completed document
When the last signer finishes, the signatures are drawn onto the document and a certificate of completion is appended as a final page. Every recipient and the workspace receive the same finished file, so nobody is left holding a different version of what was agreed.
- The certificate carries the envelope identifier and the sent and completed times.
- It records the SHA-256 of the document presented for signature.
- It lists each signer with the evidence captured for them.
docs-signatures-certificate.pngWhat this does and does not claim
Every step is written to a hash-chained log that the database refuses to update or delete, so the record of how an agreement was reached cannot be quietly rewritten afterwards. The document hash lets anyone confirm the signed pages are the pages that were sent.
This produces a simple electronic signature under eIDAS, carrying evidence of advanced quality. It is not a qualified electronic signature, which requires an accredited trust service provider and a secure signature creation device. Where a qualified signature is legally required, this is not a substitute for it.
